Well on the idea of creating a copyright statement...
All published papers are protected by copyright laws and the author has always the right to be named as author. The commercial right of selling the journal and selling it to the scientific public lies with the publishing company the so called publisher...
Other arrangements can occur with open electronic journals which are free snd its contents are distributed for free...
and a final thought - the conditions may vary from field to field and in different countries...

In general terms, there is a legal vacuum in terms of intellectual property when the work has not yet been publicly disseminated. Once it has been publicly disseminated (e.g., through a preprint or a scientific publication) it is implicit that the copyright belongs to the authors who first shared it.
It is different to plagiarize (to copy in full the information contained in a scientific publication) than to replicate (to repeat a scientific study in order to compare the results). The latter is acceptable, the former is academic and scientific misconduct.
My particular recommendation is that you generate a preprint as soon as your work is ready for publication in order to ensure the scoop in the public dissemination of your work and therefore the copyright.
