I came across the following case, What's your suggestion?
"Dear all hardworking researchers, tell me how to safeguard ur idea from reviewers? I had an experience where I have send my phd unpublished work for publication and it was not accepted because of lack of mathematical formulation. Later, I found some academicians who indirectly have taken idea from my paper have got their paper accepted just because they had a team, put mathematical equations and used USRP and Matlab for results. Is it ok to take the theme of paper, some key concepts from the paper which have come under review and not accepted. If it's not ok, then how to control such unethical behavior of reviewers. Because as a simple research student, I don't know in whose hand my work is reaching and is prey for being misused."
@Sarwar J. Minar That situation is sad and unethical indeed. In my opinion you could make representations of your displeasure to your reviewers to hold them accountable for exhibiting self interest
So far as you wish to publish in a peer reviewed journal, there is no way you can safeguard your ideas.
In my opinion, this is difficult to avoid happening in the future, unless the author of the manuscript rejected by the reviewer can proved that several of ideas included in the manuscript rejected have been used by the reviewer in the preparation of his own manuscript.
