I am looking for a possible solvent to remove the natural oxide layer of boron nanoparticles(water is good, but it may generate boric acid layer). Any suggestions?
Pass the HF (gas) through your nanoparticles when heated . Boron oxide will react with the formation of BF3 (gas) and water vapor. So you remove the oxide from the boron surface.
Thank you so much for your response. Our lab doesn't have the capability to perform the HF gas etching nor we don't have a glovebox to perform such task. Therefore, the best bet is to use solvent to solution process the particle to remove boron oxide, followed by some kind of passivation layer. Any suggestions?
