how to remove HCL from the Pyridylacetic acid hydrochloride??
I assume using base to neutralized the HCl salt and then extract with organic solvent will NOT work. Because the free pyridyl acetic acid also have a good solubility in water. This may lost too much of my prodcut. Is there some good suggestion?
Also it's better to remover the Cl as well.
yet sure, it's a effective way. But I only have a small scale and want to avoid run a column. Exchange resin is a good choice. I'll give you eighth author...haha
You may simply let the x-pyridylacetic acid hydrochloride (x =2, 3, 4) adduct powder decompose to both x-pyridineacetic acid and hydrogen chloride gas upon heating, yet avoiding further thermolysis progress. Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) should help to establish an adequate thermal schedule.
