How to remove crude oil or hydrocarbon from contaminated soils?

Soil may contaminated with crude oil and hydrocarbons ,which reduce its productivity. So what is the best way to recontaminated.

I do not think that this can be done 100%, and I am answering from an agronomist point of view, rather than a petro-chemical expert. Large areas are contaminated by petrolium extraction, by salty and crude oil extraction. I have read some papers that some halophytes can grow in these kinds of soils, tolerating both salinity and hydrocarbons. Thus, helping in remediation of such soils.
