My model is taking 12 hours to complete analysis and i have defined just one step.
Each step is of roughly 150 seconds and i have atleast 12 such steps.
So, i need general tips, such as increase mesh size, to reduce analysis time.
I understand that by speeding up analysis, i will be compromising with accuracy.
you can change the mesh size appropriately. In addition, you can increase the increment in history or field output.
i put both history and output request as 50. By the way, are you sure i need to increase the values and not deccrease it??
you should increase the increment size and it means the number of output will decrease.
Mr. Lima, thank u for the prompt replies. have both output and history request at 50 and put for analysis. is it correct ( because 50 is randomly chosen). My understanding was that for every increment, it will take certain time, so i was minimising increments

Several points to reduce the computation time for incremental forming via ABAQUS/Explicit:
1. increase tool speed. but not too fast for dynamic oscillation. check energy ratio.
2. mass scaling, either automatic or fixed. or target dt=5E-6, for example. but not too large for dynamic oscillation.check energy ratio.
3. control output #
4. use symmetry for model if possible
5. use rigid tool
6. integration point # through sheet thickness. try 3, 7, 9, etc. fewer is faster.
7. time scaling factor, try 0.5,0.7, 0.9 etc.
8. mesh size. not too small for stability limit reason.
9. friction. larger value needs more computation time.
10. single precision is about 20% faster than double precision
They are what I think of for now. I can put more points later.
