It seems you can convert the .ecg files into the MIT format .

I have no experience with this software and do not use MATlab, but the raw data we collect is first converted to MIT format and then converted again to a different format which is then used in an HRV analysis software.

Paul Bourke Probably MIT format. There should be a .hea (header) file with each .dat.
