the analysis of ulvan structure is based on the quantitative determination of the major constituent monosaccharides (iduronic acid, rhamnose, xylose and glucuronic acid) and degree of sulfation. For sulfation is most commonly carried out using a turbidimetric assay but can be also measured using HPLC.
I would like to differentiate the ulvan fraction from any impurities, such as free sugars, starch, and amorphous cellulose, which might be extracted as well. Any Idea?
