Do molecular identification of seaweed is important to publish a research work done on seaweed?

I have worked on physiological response of green seaweed which is a genus belongs to Ulva and chaetomorpha, from myself i have morphologically compared it with research papers i have confirmed it as ulva intestinalis and chatetomorpha antennia. Is it enough to publish an original research on seaweed or i have to go for molecular identification to confirm to?
