i have utilized treated kenaf fiber in epoxy matrix and preared a composite and undergone a tensile test. i need to prove good interficial bonding is achieved with help of fractography SEM study of tensile tested specimen.plz do share ur valuable comments.
A cross sectional SEM image that showing dense coating/composite structure as well as good contact uneven surface (showing interlocking between coating material and substrate) at the interface, without porosity and cracks. this can be correlated with tensile test results.
U should have significant matrix residue on the fibres at the fracture surfaces
Contrary, it the adhesion is weak there will be no matrix residue on the fibres
How was the tensile behavior of the composite with treated fibers respect to the untreated one? I have just done that with mercerized hemp and LMDPE. Follow the attached paper.
