I have data on the quantity of water used for irrigation in different crops. Now I want to measure the value of each liter of irrigation water. Please help me in doing so.
I think you have to put a set of criteria such as:
- Groundwater conditions especially depth to water ,flow and quality ( sustainability)
- is there any legal or regualations tools
- Water footprint for each crop (blue , grey)
- good cost recovery estimation for O&M infrastructures
- social aspects for end users (farmers)
I think it depends on the source of water. For example, if water comes from raining that is great, or if water comes from river that it is OK but with doing the basic tests, however, if water comes from the treated sewareage you should take care anf thinlk arefully about this matter.cd
For surface water supply (for Irrigation) we are having basic three criterias to fixed the Irrigation charges and those are:
(1) Based on Irrigated area (vary with crop season)
(2) Volume of water delivers (constant rate per cubic meter and raising block tarrif)
(3) Two part tariff ( Fixed per area+Volume)
Similarly for ground water supply for irrigation we have to water abstraction charges also....such as
(1) Irrigated area + water abstraction charges.
(2) Volume of water delivered + water abstraction charges.
(3) Two part tariff ( Fixed per area+Volume)+ water abstraction charges.
