I want to prepare, anode for Li-ion battery using silicon nano particles and nanocomposite with graphene. Which solvent, binder, and conducting materials should be used for good performance? What would be the best combination for high performance and long cycle?
For slurry preparation of silicon nano particles (i.e. active material), acetylene black/carbon black can be used as conducting material; and PVDF can be used as binder. Take weight ratio 80:10:10 for active material:carbon black:PVDF and then add NMP solvent in this mixture to prepare the slurry...@Firoz Khan

instead of using PVDF as binder like Dipayan Pal suggested, I would recommend using aqueous CMC solution with low molecular weight (high MW CMC creates a very viscous solution with water which might cause problems with slurry homogenization). PVDF does not work so well with electrode materials which are changing their volume during cycling (and volume change in sillicon goes as high as ca. 300%).
As the other components go, acetylene black/carbon black as conductive media works well with sillicon and the slurry composition of 8:1:1 wt.% should give you reproducible and sensible results in laboratory scale.
