How to prepare a 1 mM solution of a polymer of large molecular weight?

Polymer : Chitosan

MW : average of 250 kDa (medium molecular weight according to Sigma-Aldrich)

I am using a dicarboxylic acid to make it soluble in water and not acetic acid. Please provide me the necessary references.
