Hello everybody!

I've modified a purchased polymer, here PMAA (100 kDa), with Dodecylamin in the presence of Dicyclohexylcarbodiimide and would like to precipitate it, which doesn't work according to the instructions of the used publication. N-Methyl-2-pyrrolidone (NMP) was used as a solvent and the fraction of hydrophobic modification is 2%.

According to the paper one has to add NaOH (40%) in order to neutralize the solution and to precipitate the polymer which doesn't work for me. After the precipitation the polymer should be washed with hot NMP and Methanol, dissolved in water and finally precipitated again but this time in Methanol.

In the paper they did a functionalization with PAA instead of PMAA.

Thanks in advance.
