I intend to investigate the high strain rate dependence of a natural composite material through proposing a two-term generalised Maxwell model and carrying out an experimental test. The test I would like to perform is a high strain rate test using Instron VHS 80/20. Does associating the strain rate dependency and a viscoelastic model make sense?

Dear Rüdiger Rentsch, thanks for your answer and suggestion. I think the paper you referred covers only a few mechanical properties of the material (i.e.,elastic modulus) at various strain rates, but it does not touch upon the viscoelastic behaviour of the material and the modelling of it.
