My project topic is hyperthermic procedure to treat cancer. Hyperthermia involves heating the cancerous tissue at a temperature above 42'C and the heating should be localized. I know the theory behind this but how to achieve the result in CST software specifically. I have tried using the EM-Thermal coupled solver in CST. In thermal solver, I have tried all the three solvers but could not get the result. I know I'm missing some setting if you can share some resource it would be helpful.
I am not sharing the image because it is from someone else research work.
May I suggest the use of COMSOL MultiPhysics over the use of CST to study EM-thermal problems? COMSOL also provided a guide you can follow to achieve this, and can help you to get started immediately by building on this example.
2. When you say, you know the theory, can you enumerate this briefly? Also, what three solvers did you use? Please give some more details?
1. From my understanding basically we have to use the em-thermal coupled solver in that first solve em to generate the heat flow and import this to thermal solver to calculate the heat distribution.
2. The three solvers are - THS (Thermal steady state), Thermal transient solver and conjugated heat transfer solver.
The EM-Thermal coupled solver in CST works very well in my experience, so no need to switch to COMSOL. Also CST allows working with hexahedral meshes & human voxel models, which as far as I know is not possible in COMSOL. The main question here is how do you want to generate the EM fields for tumor heating? What kind of applicator do you use. Does it have multiple channels? Typically for localized heating you'll use multiple interfering sources to generate a hotspot, so there's an extra optimization step required as well. Without any information on how exactly you aim to generate the EM fields I'm afraid I can't offer any more advice.
