I have a MIMO system represented by a transfer matrix, the determinant of which is of order 14. How do I reduce the order of the system without compromising the original behaviour of the system ?
The reduction of the order of the model inevitably passes by the modal analysis by identifying the dominant poles that is to say those whose contribution is preponderant of which the evolution of the model. The reduction will only affect the poles that only slightly affect the output of the system. For your application i suggest you to see links and attached files in topics.

Prof M.M. Lafifi has given you excellent sources. Different methods of model order reductions (like balanced truncation techniques) are also available in MATLAB. You can also follow. After model reduction you pls check for frequency response of the reduced order model to fullfill your requirement. All methods may not be suitable.
