We are doing a project on removal of hexa valent chromium by adsorption with sugarcane, neem and all. The problem is the moment we added chromium solution on the adsorbent, the entire solution got some colour due to organic matter. This colour cause interference in the analysis of chromium with DPC. We oxidized the solution and then analysed for that no chromium was detected. Can anyone give solution for our problem.
Dear Sir. Concerning your issue about how to overcome organic matter interference in chromium analysis by spectrophotometer . Elimination of biological and organic materials were carried out by digestion with acids for destruction of all organic matter, only the remaining inorganic matter had to be considered for possible interference I think the following below links may help you in your analysis:

to over come the issue i would recommend you not to use raw sugarcane, neem and all. go for carbanaization of the adsorbent. any material wont give color in carbonize form.
