First you are free to act driven by what your own consciousness/minding/meditation tells you.
Secondly what seems important to me are the best goals we as friends are able to reach by considering the general money question you raise because of course the present occurrence of such a collaborative invention case will be hopefully more and more frequent so that it will open and evolve society's behavior tacite rules and laws.
So we are not alone and both of us must be helped by asking this question not only to experts but to all Citizens wanting to improve world citizenhood and good citizenship.
Before money that drives the whole world mad does not exist any more it could be judicious to use this present case as a people consciousness awakener about advantages to avoid being selfish or egoist and to think in a cooperative and collaborative manner..
We must developp as possible people inclination for any kind of research that is a training for imaginating and creativities' power as often as they are turned toward the luminous side of our spirit.
