To functionalize our synthesized MWCNT we used a H2SO4 and HNO3 (3:1, v/v) mixture. However, due to the lack of access to a Teflon filter paper, we could not vacuum filter the product. Instead of one single Teflon paper, we poured the diluted solution over two Whatman 42 filter papers, which were the only type of filter papers available to us. The particles passed through the pores, after which the papers were mostly dissolved.
We also tried centrifuging the solution, but here too the particles remained for the most part in the solution. We even tried to dry out the slurry-like solution by heating it in an oven at 70 0C for almost 48 h, which was not successful.
