Dear All,
I need to construct phantoms with defined optical properties and I am using materials/chemical that their optical properties are not available. I need to know their optical properties to find out how much (in terms of amount/concentration) of them need to be mixed to create my desired optical properties within the medium (final form).
Also to make sure about my analyses I am interested to measure optical properties of materials by myself in the lab.
So was wondering what are the methods available to measure these coefficient quick and cheap? I know that there are methods like integrating spheres but I don't have access to such an instrument.

They are black and white pigments which their optical properties are not available.
They exhibit both scattering and absorption properties. Though I am hoping that black color mostly absorb light with small scattering and white show scattering properties with minimum absorption.
I think the method you mentioned would work for absorption coefficient, but will I be able to distinguish scattering and absorption from each other?
How about scattering; can I use measuring changes in intensity to calculate scattering?

Can you please give me a little bit info about reduced scattering coefficient?
From the Beer-Lambert law formula, I = Io e^-ux , we can calculate absorption coefficient. What about reduced scattering coefficient? How can we calculate it?
The absorption coefficient of the solution can be measured using a spectrophotometer and the reduced scattering coefficient can be measured using the diffuse reflection method if you are able to collect the backscattered light from the phantom in more details, please read this journal here it is mentioned the extraction of optical properties from both solid and liquid phantoms
