I have to do assembly analysis of machine tool spindle, kindly help me to do finite element modelling of bearing, some had suggest me to use rigid elements weather idealizing bearing into rigid elements,1D element is it correct. I had doubt as the stiffness depends on number of rigid elements being connected between nodes or kindly suggest suitable element to be used and also suggest various properties for the element to be provided as input in any of the FE analysis software.
I don't think that just one particular number of rigid elements is always correct. It depends on the level of accuracy desired and assumptions made. You could one or more number of elements connected between the nodes and see how it affects the stiffness and consequently the accuracy of result. You could use that as a guide.

in a first step you can take the stiffness of the bearing from the manufacturer. Otherwise you should model the whole bearing geometry with all the contacts, but it will take long time for the calculaion.

For example you can design a beam with the appropriate stiffens, like you do if you will calculate it manually (see image). Once you have defined the material for the beam, you can define the section in order to have the appropriate stiffness knowing that the stiffness is defined as k=F/delta in which delta is the compression/elongation of the beam due to the force F=1 and that depend (delta) from the material and from the section.
