Hello!

A lot is going on in brain tissue during the processing steps for resin embedding of brain tissue for electron microscopy. I was wondering what is the best way to measure tissue shrinkage before the processing steps (i.e. before post-fixation with Os4O) and after (after post-fixation, dehydration, etc.).

For example, I have a tissue block of ~1mm³, how do I measure the exact size of that block? Then I start post-fixation, dehydration etc. and before I put the tissue in resin to harden as a final step, I would like to measure the size of the tissue block again. What is the best way to do that?
