Dear colleagues,
I am trying to measure distance between the top and the bottom of opaque object inside a Baltic amber (Refractive index= 1.54). Over the amber I have to add saturated water/fructose solution (Refractive index= 1.49). Over it, there is a glass slide cover (refractive index= 1.52).
The microscope is a Leica DM2500 and it gives the instructions in the attached pdf. including a formula. I am having trouble to be sure that I am using that formula right.
Can someone explain it to me? I didn't get why that ratio n0/ni is placed bellow the variable d'.
Given the refraction index above and assuming that the objective refractive index=1. For which number should I multiply the measured distance (d') to get the real distance and why?
Thank you,
Samuel Costa
