I am an entrepreneur and a teacher cum researcher. I am running two parallel careers. Both of them are equally challenging and demanding. It is taking a toll on me. I have to work for almost throughout the day to keep pace with the development.
Are you running two or more careers simultaneously? What do you think should be done to carry on with two or more such simultaneous careers?

Quit one - if you can afford to. Dividing your attention, energy, time between two tasks usually results in both being done less well than if you devote ALL of those to ONE task. Partly because more attention, energy and time are available, partly because if you FREE some time by dropping one, what you do/learn in that time free can enrich what you bring to the remaining task. Doing nothing but work is called "workaholism" in parallel with alcoholism. If need be, see a therapist to counter addiction to work, an addiction as real as those to drugs, shopping or gambling.

Charles Handy advanced the idea of the "portfolio worker" in "The Age of Unreason" (1989), where he identified five categories of work for the portfolio: wage work and fee work (both being forms of paid work) and homework, gift work, and study work (all three being free work). Handy quit his full-time tenured professorship to set aside 100 days a year to make money, 100 days to write, 50 days to do good works, and 100 days to spend time with his wife (who it seems also helped him work across his portfolio). Portfolio lifestyles may appeal to those who are in their "third age" and are no longer pressed to earn money but the point is that Handy did not minister to parallel remunerated careers.
