Some journals get discontinued from indexing, but they continue misleading researchers showing that they are indexed in Scopus or in ISI. How to help new researchers to avoid publishing in those journals?
Although the suggestion by Cecilia-Irene Loeza-Mejía is a good source, keep in mind that SCImago is only updated once a year. In the comments section of various journals, the SCImago support team always indicate this, I quote
“All the metadata have been provided by Scopus /Elsevier in their last update sent to SCImago, including the Coverage's period data. The SJR for 2020 was released on 17 May 2021. We suggest you consult the Scopus database directly to see the current index status as SJR is a static image of Scopus, which is changing every day.” (See for example comments here: https://www.scimagojr.com/journalsearch.php?q=28687&tip=sid&clean=0)
So (in order of being most updated) you can check Scopus indexing in the following ways:
-The Scopus site provides the most recent “Scopus source list” (and discontinued title list) check here https://www.scopus.com/home.uri (scroll down, see for the latest list enclosed file as well)
-Scopus sources https://www.scopus.com/sources.uri?zone=TopNavBar&origin=searchbasic is second best since it takes some time before Scopus update the info about discontinuation here as well
-SCImago https://www.scimagojr.com/ as explained above for older cases just fine but you might miss the more recent cases
For indexing in Web of Science (Clarivate’s databases ESCI, SCIE, SSCI) you can check:
-Master journal list https://mjl.clarivate.com/home
