Hello,

I am wanting to quantify lysates containing reducing agents such as DTT and TCEP using the BCA assay. Now traditionally I know this does not work due to the reducing agents reacting with the kit however they do make a variation of the kit that is reducing agent compatible where they add some mysterious substance they call the compatibility agent. I have been trying to work out what this could possibly be as the cost of this kit is enormous and the only thing you are paying extra for is this reagent. I originally thought it could be Iodoacetamide which when pre treating samples with DTT seems to semi-work however this doesn't seem to work with TCEP.

Any ideas?

Cheers,

Rachel
