Currently I am trying to model a steel section in which I want to see the effects of temperaure on Its mechanical properties. So for that I want to do thermal analysis and strength analysis. I want to link the thermal analysis output as input of mechanical analysis.
I am using ABAQUS for doing this.

It's called uncoupled analysis (as opposed to coupled where you solve both thermal and mechanical at the same time). You run thermal and then in a second analysis using same model read data in results file to use as input for the mechanical one. There are a number of example on the web or in tutorials for this that you can find easily.
You set in your second model where to read the first result file then if step are identical the mechanical corresponds to the first one, otherwise, interpolation is made between steps to correspond.

Hi. You can implement 2 steps of analysis or use the *restart option in ABAQUS. Most thermal analysis is done with Abaqus Implicit. You can follow that with a static or dynamic analysis. Some material properties can also be inserted as a function of temperature. This is recommended for plastics and elastomers. ... Best regards, Jennifer
