I would say it will depend on the enzyme. For example, Glucose Oxidase remains active after binding on the gold surface.

Many methods are available for loading enzymes on nanoparticles. Use surface activation of nanoparticles by TEOS and then bind/ load the enzyme. Most enzymes remain functional in this approach.

Consider the gold as having OH groups or basic oxides; so you will look for acidic functional groups -COOH in the enzymes or such acidic groups to react with in a condensation reaction to form -OCO- groups.
