Greeting! I just want to know for my experience, how to increase score on research gate? What type of score is this and is there any benefit for this score? Can we use it in our university for promotion?
Besides all the above-mentioned points, I want to add that RG is a platform and a gateway for sharing information and experiences between scientists, experts, researchers, and practitioners. In reality, RG is one of the biggest social media networks for the scientific community. Therefore, it is your way to increase your research visibility and, in turn, your citations.
Based on this, your research work should be open-access and free to all people unless there is a crucial need. This can be done during the addition process of any research work or publications by choosing "add a public file" instead of "add a private file".
Write interesting and useful papers in good (high rated) journals - you get points for publications and get high interest in the scientific sociaty
Answer the question in the area you are the expert and you can help another people
Ask interesting questions and rise important discussion
You should do it to be more recognised with your works and to have great possibility for scientific international collaboration
If you are doing it for scores only,... it is wasting your time I did not know any University that based their promotions or funding on RG scores, however maybe it is good idea? or maybe there are some univeristy in the world taking RG scores in their Staff eveluation ?
Just enjoy in Research Gate experience (sharing your papers and projects, reading others, recommending, following, answering, asking,...) and the score will came!
The score can be increase when the no.of citations of your research increase and this can be occur when your topic was interested by other researchers of the same area you worked.
Hi, to increase your score in the research gate, you need to publish high quality research articles which will be demand from the researcher and cited in their research.
Increase your research with experienced co-authors or professors who have lots of students or a well known laboratory. This will help get more citations and recommendation which will increase your RG Score
RG Score is calculated based on any contribution you share on ResearchGate or add to your profile, such as published articles, unpublished research, projects, questions, and answers.
You can always post your research on social networking sites. This can increase reads and also generate citations. All this will increase the RG score.

Publishing good papers in prestigious journals could influence the visibility and citations; which in turn influence the scores. Sharing your research and having notable co-authors which will attract readers could as well influence the scores.
Eman El-Khateeb, it is accepted more papers but are are visible in the Reserch from main menu (see the photo attached). In Overview you'll see less, if you select 5, you'll see 5.
Publishing papers in reputed journals will boost your score. In RG, each each journal is having an impact value and our score will increase on the basis of the impact value of journal where we publish articles. RG is giving more importance to journals than international conferences like springer, ieee etc. They are giving more score to paid journals and low quality journals than these international conferences. Also, we can see a lot of people are having higher RG score, still they are not having any publications. They are improving their scores by simply asking questions and providing answers to others questions! RG would have been much better , if it strictly focuses on research and publications than giving scores to questions or answers.
Research gate's score is very important in many ways. From this, we can find out. How much interest X has in research, how much work has been done in recharge. So it is very important. Today's universities are getting promoted according to research gate's score.

1. When the number of papers in good index journal starts increasing, Gates score also starts increasing. 2. Research gate score also increases due to more use of social media like research gate etc.
it is very useful to upload your works and make it readble. Other parameters that improve your score are about projects, citations, and interactions. For example reading and anwering question, or by asking it. This is a social, so everything is shared improve your research interest
Four things contribute to your research gate as follows:
- Publications ( articles, preprint, presentations, raw data etc, projects)
- Questions ( Asking well formulated questions)
- Answers ( Give to other researcher helpful answers)
- Followers.
As miscellaneous, recommend others peoples works, update your projects. Try to be actif on research gate platform, and share your work on other social media for more visibility.
Thank you very much, I didn't understand why my RG score decreased sometimes, now I see that It's a common problem. I will follow your recommendations, thank you very much indeed.
All these are valuable answers. I may also add responding to requests from researchers asking for access to one of your research product which is not shared publicly.
Answering questions is one way of increasing your score without much effort. I see there are some people who have few publications but have high scores because they answer a lot of questions.
If only it was that simple. Engagement recently has resulted in a decrease in scores - even allowing for the notion of relativity that is absurd. If it was not for the fact that RG is a useful platform for sharing research and ideas I would take my ball home because RG's scoring system is ridiculous.
