How to improve the tensile strength of silica yarn from E-glass in fiber form?

I am looking to improve the tensile strength of silica yarn from E-glass. I have tried to different ratios of HCl at 164 F, I even tried to wash with small amount of nitric acid. Nothing helped. Please give me some suggestions. thank you.
