I have come up with a method and had written a paper on it. Paper got rejected by a journal stating that there is no theoretical novelty.
I am kind of confused on why the novelty that I am able to see, is not visible for the reviewer?
How do I highlight it?
I am not familiar with the term "theoretical novelty."
All research studies should have a theoretical framework on which the methodology is based, usually presented in the literature review.
In addition, you should have a paragraph stating the significance of your study. I usually put such paragraphs at the end of my introduction, after I have defined the "problem" the study addresses, the goals, and the research questions.
I think that in this section, you can state very clearly why your study is significant because of the way in which it fills in a gap in the existing literature. Do not talk about findings in this section, just why the study itself is significant.
But I do not know whether my comments address the question of "theoretical novelty."
in the abstract and the conclusion is where you have to explain why your contribution furthers the domain, never been done before, or even groundbreaking. Did you put your paper in preprints so I could give you some suggestions?
You can highlight it in abstract, introduction and conclusion. You can also highlight you major contributions by adding the bullet list as highlights of your work at the end of introduction section.

You can highlighted the novelty through the introduction where you should try to review almost of the existing methods and techniques that used for specific field and then explain the drawbacks of these methods such as the accuracy. Additionally, you need to explain how the new method that you propose could improve the accuracy and give results with accuracy that considered high compare with the existing methods.

Agree with all of the above and also think that “theoretical novelty” is both unclear and also sounds a bit too much to expect from a single paper. I do understand that you are introducing a new method, or maybe a new approach to study, but it would help to see a draft version of your work. Otherwise the suggestions remain abstract.
