I need to model crack propagation in Ashpalt concrete . I am trying to adopt XFEM to create cracks . cracks are developing but the force is not reduced as the behaviour is viscoelastic . So please help me how to give plastic properties in abaqus along with viscoelastic behaviour. In ABAQUS we cannot directly give visco elastic and plastic properties together.
hi, yes we cannot assign directly the visco elastic properties of the material but based on failure theory define by various failure model as available in ABAQUS. For example to predict the elasto-plastic behaviour of the material the model like Mohr - Coulomb model or Drucker - Prager model or hardening model are available in ABAQUS. You need to select the model as per your requirements and the chosen model is representing correctly the said behaviour. so i suggest you to read scientific manual of ABAQUS software for knowing more in details about your problem..visco elastic is time bound response under the given loading. i am sure this type model is available in abaqus..ok all the best..
