How to convert/express the concentrations of nanopartcles such as ZnO or Au into molarity (for example 5 or 10 mM). It is possible to express the concentrations, in terms of molarity, of only those molecules or compounds where we know their respective atomic/molecular (sometimes formula) weight. But in the case of nanoparticles of the same species which are often different sizes, such as one size of silica 10 nm and another size of silica 100 nm, how to get their molarity? Through our publications we have used concentrations of nanoparticles in terms of widely used ug/ml instead of uM or mM. But there are some publications where mM have been used for nanoparticles instead of ug/ml. Can someone help explain?
