i am facing a problem during my research work. I am in need to collect small pieces -sufficient for maceration, from the main trunk of the tree, including forest trees. Could someone suggest to me a method most suitable for carrying out this work?
In the case of trees inside the forest with the concerned permissions from the forest department or department officials, by using Pressler's increment borer you can get the core sample of the desired tree and do your maceration work in your lab.

You can use Pressler's increment borer to collect samples from the heartwood, as a non-destructive method. There is a different kind of increment borers of various sizes, especially in different lengths and diameters. Higher Diameter means you can extract larger pieces and a higher length of "auger" facilitates more penetration, especially for larger trees. Based on "the thread" there are two types: 2-thread and 3-thread. A 2-thread borer might be more suitable to use with hardwoods.
