After spin coating of PVA on the glass plate,I did prebaking and post baking in oven.Then I rubbed the glass plate with velvet cloth with fixed pressure and direction to get alignment layers.After filling the liquid crystals,I checked for the alignment of LC molecules but it was not proper alignment.They were randomly oriented.
You need to have a polyimide (PI) layer to do so. PVA may not work in your case. You could find many references of PI for the alignment layer purpose.
@Xuhua Wang I had a doubt that whether Polyimide layer can be coated over PVA or not?
@Aman Mehta You don't need to use the PVA layer if you have the PI layer for the alignment.

Actually I have to use PVA coating on the glass substrate in my experiment and I am filling liquid crystal sandwiched between two glass substrate with PVA coating.For alignment of liquid crystal ,I have rubbed PVA coated glass substrate with velvet cloth but the alignment were not proper.So I had a question what should I do to get proper alignment in my case
