I am thankful for my classmate especially Prof. Y.D.Sharma , Prof and Head, Biotechnology, AIIMS, New Delhi, India  and my laboratory  colleague, ( Dr.P.K.Tarafder) for inspiring me to do my best possible.Sometime, by reading others paper(need not be of same discipline)give you motivation. In my opinion, one should always  acknowledge such friends for their direct or indirect motivation . Reading habit,self-evaluation  and interactions with others are more  helpful.  

SOME PEOPLE

- Some people come into our lives and quickly go

In my opinion, this the curiosity, learning aptitude, dedication, involvement and hard work etc of the individual,  which differentiate one individual from others. With advancement in technologies one can freely interact with others. It is the interaction with the learned people, introspection and self-evaluation, which accelerate the self confidence and self -motivation to do your best - whatever you do .

Now a days, anyone can refer to the latest update available on website and update on current status on any aspect .I personally feel it as a great source of inspiration and self motivation.

Research Institution must motivate their researchers by sort of reward for good work.

The salary scale should be established and respected. I do speak about variable part of the salary.

Of course, there are different measures to motivate researchers behind salary.

This question is very actual to those who think they have everything said and done already in science. How to get motivated after this? - this is a question of real importance.

Research Evaluation Metrics!

"At present, research is going on all over the world practically in all subjects and generating millions of research articles and other documents. In some cases, the research works are generating very good results, in most cases mediocre, and in some cases negative results. Basing research results, awards, fellowships, promotion, selection for a job, etc are decided. For all these, evaluation of research output becomes sine qua non.

Centuries ago when the number of researchers were less, peers used to evaluate research. With the passage of time, the number of researchers increased, research areas proliferated, research output multiplied. The trend continued and after World War II the research workers and their outputs started growing exponentially. Today even on a moderate estimate there are around or more than one million researchers and they produce more than two million research papers and other documents per year.

In such a mind-boggling situation, research evaluation is continuously proving to be a tough job. For any award and fellowship there may be scores or hundreds of nominees. From among these, how to select the best candidate has turned out to be a big question. Peer reviews in many cases are proving to be subjective. As a result decisions are getting biased..."

Motivated  comes from our inner urge . It has the basic end of our life for which we should remain sincere ,honest ,& last but not the least our will power with the decision undertaken must meet the challenge of the life .

With the above aspect of motivation such person may move with his approach in a systematic & scientific & whenever necessary he is also take care in the sense that slow & steady wins the race .

In the line of the above environment & development he can motivate with the spirit for his own development in which ever area he has selected .

Thanks for sharing. It is always satisfactory for me to receive an invitation from you to participate in a thread.

For me, there are two basic prerequisites for someone to get involved in research and development activities, in a permanent basis.

First, he/she must want it strongly as pointed out by Mr. Parikh. If there is the will, the way to start will be found.

Secondly, but in my opinion, of equal importance to first, he/she must have a good standard of living.

A greek proverb says 'Unfed bear does not dance'.  

The researcher has to have his work as the main goal of his labour life. In this case, the presence of the Researchgate plataform came to make us proud of our results. We can say about our opinion in different subjects; we can see who are demanding our research and so on. The colleagues that has downloading our papers are a source to motivate our ideas and so on. Self motivation and to surround one's Self with positive things 

I strongly believe that teachers role is more important for motivation, when I was in High School studies,  One Teacher from the Natural Sciences  regularly explained the importance  of science in daily life  and showed some scientific experiments. Even though it is a remore corner of the Andhra Pradesh (India), the school authorities arranged some scientific talks by the eminent scholars to motivate the students. As said by the Prof. Rathore  we get  motivated when go through the Books and scientic papers and current research.

By taking interest and satisfaction, we can get motivated for research and development activities.

Start reading the Capital: Critique of Political Economy (1867–1883) by Karl Marx and related documents. It is a good way to start thinking about development, sciences, and revolution. Change the status-quo is the major point in all innovations.

Self-motivation is crucial. Another thing is to be appreciated for the previous work one has done. As a researcher, if your work is not acknowledged and appreciated, it can be discouraging.

Self-motivation may also be directly influenced by an individuals passion for the type of work being done. As an undergraduate I have been asked "What motivates you to take on projects so early in your career?". I always respond with the same answer "It is simply my passion." I am motivated to create opportunities for all types of individuals while utilizing the scientific tools available to conduct research in order to maximize its effectiveness. I also agree that being being appreciated for previous work done influences researchers and encourages them to continue creating new projects and/or improving previous/current work. Personally, I am grateful for my passion of wanting to assist others in my community no matter what my fears are and how much I do not know. I am always eager to learn about any subject when it comes to my community and how to improve the resources available to those within it.

You don't need any kind of motivation for the things you love to do. If you love the work you do (like watching a film or playing a sport), or the research topic you are working on, you would never require motivation. If you know your work is significant and will be known for it, this itself will keep you inspired to carry out your research. The motivation coming from outside soon fades away but if you are self inspired, no one can stop you getting what you want.

Einstein gives by his quotes many motivations for scientific work.

The attitude that motivates the desire to research goes hand in hand with certain genetic and social skills. It is impossible to fully delineate one from the other. Who has a desire to know find ways to feed this desire; who lacks curiosity it can hardly be compelled to have it. It is more related to personality traits that result of educational efforts.

If we love what we do, we will have no need of additional motivation. For all of us science is not just a job, it is our Fate. And our professional history in written not only in our CV, it is written in our heart…

But sometimes we meet problems and difficulties, we feel doubts and disappointments…  And at these moments we really need motivation, understanding, love and support. In such situations I find support in my family, friends and students. I do believe that until someone (even one person) needs us, our knowledge and our experience, it makes sense to continue. Because tomorrow exactly this person can do something great.
