The most accurate way is to approach from DNA Sequencing (i.e. to match DNA Barcode). You just need to sequence around 650bp of mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase 1 (CO1) gene (in case of insects or any other animal). Then feed the sequence in the BOLD database http://www.boldsystems.org/views/idrequest.php and check which species the sample belongs to.
