To prepare a manuscript using Latex, pictures are usually inserted into it. But if the picture is of the extension of .png, or .jpeg, the quality gets poor. Hence, to get the best quality picture, what file format should be used and how?
well i usually go for .pdf format and it always works for me. I will suggest using inkscape for this purpose. But MATLAB, origin, etc. also provide the feature of saving graphs as high quality .pdf and other formats. However, some journals insist on providing .eps or .tiff formats.
Dear Mr. Sobhan Sarkar , tiff format is recommended by a wide range of journals, but don't forget dpi which must be equalt to/hier than 300....(according to a journal requirement) dpi is very interesting in the improvement of image quality.
If I use .eps format with better resolution then .eps file becomes heavy in MBs which results in heavy pdf file. Please suggest how to get the best picture quality such that file size remains appropriate?
use .tiff format to save your images and use https://convert.town/image-dpi to customize/enhance your dpi (as 600, 1200 etc.). Then use those images in Latex
Postscript or SVG are better than other image formats such as PNG and JPG. However, I would recommend you to use the PDF format since the quality can be still the same as the original.
