I am working on the development of a novel material as a part of my research work which needs the preparation of many samples / mixtures. Analyzing all the samples for the detailed physical properties (like density, thermal conductivity, specific heat and latent heat) will take a lot of time. Also very few sample will fit into my interest. So can any body share the theoretical way of finding the above mentioned properties for the mixtures? Latent heat is highly critical for me.
Hi Hakeem,
if the properties of each salt is stable and no poosible checmical reaction take place due to heat, pressure and the existance of other salts. you take the ratio for each one mutiply it by the property and add them together.
Regarding the latent heat, if the range of heating or cooling process cover all the latent temperatures of the salts, you treat them as mixure and you can use the ratio x each salt latent heat.
if the range of temperature cover the latent temperature for some of them, you need to consder these salts as the other not melteed or solidified.
