I have a large list of factor-names in an excel sheet, and there are similar and dissimilar factors across different samples. The similar/dissimilar factors are in different rows. I would like to find out if there is any common factor among all of the samples. Since this is a large list, I cannot make "text-specific" search, and rather I have to rely on some sorts of loop function to automate the search. Is there any R package and function to do that?

To be honest, I don't understand what you mean by "similar", Do you need a value or standard to judge the similar extent between two variable names (factors)?
