Dry the sample in a 105 Celsius conventional oven overnight. Weigh and grind the sample. Accurately extract ~0.5 g in a Soxhlet unit using Diethyl or Petroleum Ether (not Hexane). Air dry the extract and weigh the amount of oil. Calculate the amount of oil as is or dry basis.

Be sure you perform the solvent extraction in a fumehood which is equipped with an automatic fire extinguisher!
