I am trying to plot electric field distribution of my periodic structure in MATLAB, for that i have to export data from CST to MATLAB . Although I have text file in ASCII format with number of columns in it but I don't know how to import that file in MATLAB and plot the data.
Dear Hammad it's much easy. just follow these steps.
1) Export Asci file from cst MWS in notepad.
2)open the file and remove the text written above columns .
3)open matlab and create script file
follow these commands
4) load('S11_w1.txt');
5)x1 = S11_w1(:,1);
6)y1 = S11_w1(:,2);
7)plot(x1,y1,'+');
for 2d /3d
8)p = polarpattern(x1, y1);
i try to answer this question because i have experienced in plotting radiation pattern in 3D and polar axis to matlab. First thing that i do is to import the data to excel first, some say that it can be import to notepad. Next step is that you can create random variable in matlab and just copy paste it. Maybe this answer could help you.
Thanks Cahya, but i have excel file containing number of columns of data which I dont know how to manipulate those in matlab.

Zeeshan Ahmed Lodro for me linear plot is coming but polar is not coming in a proper manner. can you please help me out

Thanks for your interest. Anyway I got it for both linear and polar plots. for polar plot small modification we have to do as
load('con_new.txt');
Az1= con_new(:,3);
t = 0: 0.0175: 2*pi ;
polar(t,Az1');
the above code will give perfect result
1. Choose your data in CST tab "2D/3D Plot"
2.Then from tab "Post-Processing" ---> "Plot Data (ASCII)" ---> save data in ".txt" format.
3. Open note file and erase titels and lines above each clumn of datas.
4.Then, in matlab script use " A = importdata(filename) ".
You will have all data in A matrix.
