I am simulating the fatigue behaviour of Compact Tension (CT) samples.

I tried to produce the S-N curve, but I am not sure about how to calculate the Nominal Stress. Is it simply evaluated by considering the linear elastic flexion-tension stress state of a rectangular section?

Moreover, I am looking for experimental data, but I always find S-N curves related to tensile tests.

In relation to the CT samples, my numerical Sf (stress limits related to the failure) are significantly lower than the ones related to tensile tests. Is this due to the incorrect calculation of the Nominal stress range, or this is normal because the S-N curves from the tensile tests are not comparable to the ones related to other samples (e.g., CT)?

Many thanks in advance for your help.

Regards,

Danilo
