How to estimate limit of detection (LoD) of an optical aerosol sensor?

I would like to estimate LoD for Plantower and Alphasense optical particle counters under realistic (not laboratory) conditions. They report mass concentrations of PM2.5 in ug/m3. How would you calculate LoD in this case?
