I am writing a code in matlab for multi-body dynamic modeling of a bearing test rig that includes 2 cylindrical roller bearings, 2 housings, and a shaft. Based on equations of motion we need to use stiffness of the housing in x and y dir and also shaft stiffness in x and y dir. Most of the papers have shown these parameters in a table without showing how they have been calculated. That is why I need to model them by FEM to measure these values. The housing is on a steel plate, and the plate is placed on a concrete surface. If I apply a bearing load to the bearing inside the housing as shown in the picture, and then measure the vertical displacement of the steel plate or the bottom surface of the housing, and then use f=kx equation, is this method correct? how about for the shaft? Could I use load-deflection equation of a 2 side clamped beam? Thank you for any response and suggestions.
