I’m currently on my data analysis stage in my dissertation which involves collecting social media posts in an online community from 30plus participants. I will conduct a thematic analysis using a codebook on these posts. One of the questions of my panel is that how can I ensure trustworthiness in my coding scheme. I plan to have another researcher who will also check on how I apply a code. And we will discuss our differences. What would be a good way to answer the question of the panel? Should I code first, and then he checks on my code and discuss our disagreement? I am thinking of checking code application between me and the other researcher for every case instead of doing it in one go. Thank you in advance.
That would typically be the way to demonstrate trustworthiness or coding reliability in certain - more positivist/realist - forms of TA. They key is to understand the rationale/theoretical basis for certain practices. Our thematic analysis website might help with this:

Hi Victoria Clarke . I've been following your approach to research and is heavily used in my dissertation. I am now more inclined to using the reflexive thematic analysis after reading your website. Thank you very much! would you know any publications that have applied reflexive thematic analysis in social media posts?
You can use the 'search within citations' function on GoogleScholar to look for papers. This is going to sound very humble braggy - but our approach is so widely used it's impossible for us to stay on top of how it's used. I haven't come across anything but that doesn't tell you much!

Do you think using simple code-book (perhaps, that would be list of codes against each post in the media instead of the name of RP) for each post will develop trustworthiness? I am wondering what do you mean by the term trustworthiness and how will you define it for your research, what should be the ingredients of the terms in the light of media posts etc?
