For the synthesis of a polymer composite reinforced by hybrid fillers (graphene Gand nanodiamond ND) by vacuum filtration assisted self-assembly, I want that ND particles stay attached to graphene sheets surface. Is there any interaction between G and ND which ensures this, or do u think that chemical functionalization is required? Do you think that alternative filtration of G, ND suspensions is a good idea? Do you have any suggestions, please? Thank you in advance.
both pristine graphene (very less defects) and nanodiamond should be hydrophobic.. there will be a mutual hydrophobic collapse if they are filtered in presence of charged solvent.. i.e. suspended in a charged fluid or charged polymers
however if the graphene is highly defective then defectless ND will not associate with it.. .Chemical functionalization or defect induction in ND may be necessary
Detonation nanodiamond is not hydrophobic, on the contrary. You should look for electrostatic interaction.

Hi again, two ideas at this stage. You may try aminated nanodiamond to react with carboxyls of GO. Second: metal bridges between the carboxyls of GO and ND.
