The novelty of the research is a common ground for which editors reject any paper, particularly for the high index journals. Most times, it does not match the level of novelty as expected by the Journals.
Most times, only integrating theories or models is not sufficient for novelty issues. the same is true for the replication of research in the new context.

Most journals now follow the capitalist approach of selling (commodification) the product to a large audience as they use big brands names such as Sage, T&F, etc. These journals want you to have topics that can target a larger audience so that they can better sell their product.
Enhancing novelty in research is not only proper but also necessary. That is the only reason for research; to make the unknown known or to bring about a new perspective or understanding thereof.
For a research to be really novel, at least, three approaches can be applied. Look at the issue or phenomenon from the exact opposite. If the research has some positive outcomes, question the data, the model, etc 1. Use what I call the Robert Juffin's principle. 'the higher the price the lower the demand' . Jiffin asked, must it always be so? And it is not always so. Jiffin came out with the novel idea of interior or Jiffin goods that disobey that Law. 2. Use the Toyota approach. If we tinker with the shape of the head lamp, bonnet, rear and or any other part, will it appear reasonably different. So look at the data, use classical models, rethink neo-classical or any other model or method. Think primary versus secondary data, think triangulation etc. Do or add something new. Extend or expand the literature review etc. You are most likely to get something reasonably novel or different. 3. Class suicide approach; change class: location, clime etc. Do historical extension or elongation. Look at it inter or intra-gender, look at it in the light of geography: north/south, developed versus developing regions etc. The essence of a research is to contribute to knowledge or improve the use to which knowledge is put, the newer the contribution, the better for society. But always remember that researching is a serious matter, don't approach any of these suggestions or any other with a flippant disposition as the suggestions may appear.
