In nanoparticle research publication, along with HRTEM image particle size distribution is given. How can we draw the particle distribution histogram from the image.
actually many methods can be used to make the particle size distribution histogram. the most used software is Image J, which is a cost-free software. you can open one SEM photo and measure the particle size. and then the software will give the particle size distribution. I hope this could hep you.

you can use Image J software to measure the size of particles present in a SEM/TEM image.using these results you can plot the histogram separately using Origin or any other software.Or you can use the inbuilt function of Image J to plot the histogram.
Use Image J software. your SEM or TEM image already contains scale. measure it with the line symbol. Take the length of the result. this will be your reference. Then measure the diameter of each particle one by one. then compare the length of the particle with that of reference. use origin or excel to plot.
Please use ImageJ software to measure the particle size distribution. Follow the steps as I have mentioned below:
1. Just open the TEM/SEM image in ImageJ and calibrate it with the given scale.
2. Select the area in which you have to find particle size distribution and make its duplicate (ctrl+shift+D).
3. ImageJ---- Process----- FFT----- Bandpass filter ; and filtered the image..
4. ImageJ---- Adjust----- Threshold >>>> click on dark background, choose Over/under in coloumn 2 then adjust threshold by a bar and then apply. After this checkout dark background, choose B&W in coloumn-2 and apply.
5. Click on Analyze ----- Analyze particles
6. Now in Analyze Particles window click on Show—Outlines; check on Exclude on edges, and clear results ---- OK
7. If everything is OK, again click on Analyze particle, Choose size limit 2-infinity and Circularity 0.2-1 ( whatever you want).--- Display Result ---- OK
8. You have the final result. Save it in xlsx file. Open it in MS Excel and for each area find r and d values.
9. Copy all d values and paste in Origin at Y column, Select whole B column and plot statistics--- Histogram.
You have the final partical size distribution.
You can do it manually by measuring diameter of particle one by one and then draw in Excel sheet.
